System templates
What system templates are, how they differ from shop templates, and where they appear in the Library.
System templates are templates that LinkSpot ships with the app. They give you a working starting point for common cases (a sale badge with the right color and animation, a cross-sell pin, a tabbed product set layout) without you having to build the design from scratch.
System templates are visible to every shop that uses LinkSpot. They live in the Library modal under the Templates tab.
How they differ from custom templates
| System templates | Custom templates | |
|---|---|---|
| Who creates them | LinkSpot | You |
| Where they appear | Templates tab in the Library modal | Saved tab in the Library modal |
| Who can see them | Every LinkSpot shop | Only your shop |
| Can be edited | No (apply, then edit the resulting element) | Editable as elements; saving over a template name creates a new entry |
| Can be deleted | No | Yes |
| Counts toward shop template limit | No | Yes (50 per element type) |
When you apply a system template, the settings are copied into your element form. You can then modify anything you want. You are working with a copy, so changing the element does not change the template.
Why they exist
The system templates exist to:
-
Demonstrate what a particular element type can do (a low-stock badge, a stamp badge, a button popup product set with the bundled cart behavior).
-
Give you a credible visual starting point without designing from a blank form.
-
Standardize defaults for merchants who do not want to think about every option.
If a system template is close to what you want but not exact, apply it, adjust the fields, and consider saving the result as a shop template for the next time. See Creating shop templates.
Where to find them
In any element form that supports templates (pins, annotations, captions, badges, buttons, product sets), open the form's action menu and click Library. The Templates tab is selected by default. System templates appear first; your saved shop templates appear in the Saved tab next to it.
