Targeting products and collections

Decide which products a badge appears on using the three targeting modes (all products, specific products, specific product image) and optional collection or tag filters.

Targeting controls which products a badge appears on, and which images of those products it sits on. You configure it from the Placement tab of the badge form.

The three targeting modes

LinkSpot offers three targeting modes for badges. You pick one per badge.

Specific products

The badge appears only on a hand-picked list of products.

What you do:

  1. Choose Specific products in the Target products card.
  2. Use the product picker to browse or search your catalog and select the products.
  3. Drag products in the list to reorder them.

The number of products you can target is capped by your plan. A higher plan increases the limit.

Specific product image

The badge appears only on one exact image of one product. Useful when the badge only makes sense on a particular shot (for example, only the lifestyle photo of a hero product).

What you do:

  1. Choose Specific product image in the Target products card.
  2. Pick the product.
  3. Pick the image from the gallery thumbnails.

All products

The badge appears on every product in your catalog by default, with optional filters to narrow the scope.

What you do:

  1. Choose All products in the Target products card.
  2. (Optional) Add filters to narrow the scope:
    • Products in specific collections. The badge only appears on products that belong to the chosen collections.
    • Products with tags. The badge only appears on products that have all of the chosen tags.
    • Products without tags. The badge does not appear on products that have any of the chosen tags.

The collection and tag filters are plan-gated under embedders_advanced_targeting. On lower plans, All products is available but the sub-filters are disabled with an upgrade banner.

Image placement

Once you decide which products the badge applies to, you choose which gallery image it sits on. From the Image placement card:

  • Specific image positions — pick one or more positions in the gallery (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, penultimate, last). Multi-select requires the advanced targeting plan; the basic plan limits you to the 1st image only.
  • All images — show the badge on every image in the gallery.
  • Hide — do not show the badge in the gallery. Use this when you want to place the badge somewhere else with an app block.
  • By alt text — show the badge on images whose alt text contains a case-sensitive substring you specify.

Tips

  • Use All products with a collection or tag filter for ongoing campaigns (a SALE badge on the Sale collection, a NEW badge on products tagged new-arrival).
  • Use Specific products for one-off promotions.
  • Use Specific product image when the badge only makes sense on a particular shot (for example, a "see size guide" badge on a sizing image).
  • Combine targeting with Scheduling and Conditional display for finer control. See those articles.
